hypolimnion- lowest deepest and coldest layer cut off from the air above. It is below the thermocline
epilimnion- freely circulating surface water with a small but variable temperature gradient
thermoclines- temperature gradient of metalimnion which decreases by about 1 degrees Celsius per meter
Metalimnion- is below thermal barrier and where the thermocline occurs also this are keeps the oxygen out of the hypolimnion.
